Rapid Naming – This test measures how quickly students can name a series of pictures on a card.
Bead Threading – This test assesses hand-eye coordination with how many beads a student can thread on a string in a given amount of time.
One Minute Reading – This test measures how many words a student can read from a list in one minute.
Postural Stability – This is a test of motor skills, balance and control of eye movements, which are commonly problems for children with dyslexia.
Phonemic Segmentation – This assesses a student’s ability to break words into their sounds or parts.
Two Minute Spelling – This is a quick spelling test to assess speed and accuracy.
Backwards Digit Span – This measures the maximum number of digits a child can remember in the right order.
Nonsense Passage Reading – This tests the reading of nonsense and real words within the context of a paragraph.
One Minute Writing – This examines the speed and accuracy of transcription of a short passage.
Verbal Fluency – This assesses how many words a student can name in a limited amount of time beginning with one particular letter.
Semantic Fluency – This test is similar to the previously mentioned verbal fluency test, however, students are asked to name items in a given category.
Vocabulary – This test is designed to measure receptive vocabulary in a multiple-choice format.
*Decile – This shows how performance compares with other children in the same age band. There are 10 bands, with band 1 corresponding to the lowest 10%; band 5 corresponding 41-50%, etc.
