Child Find

Franklin Lakes Public Schools provides a free and appropriate public education (FAPE) for children age 3 years through grade 8 who demonstrate, through a comprehensive evaluation, challenges in academic, social, and behavioral domains. As a result of the evaluation the children are determined to be 'Eligible for Special Education and Related Services'. Referrals to the Child Study Team originate from multiple sources: general education teachers, parents, and Early Intervention Programs (EIP). School-age children are generally referred to the Child Study Team after the Intervention and Referral Services Committee has convened to develop a plan of educational supports that are implemented in general education programs. When the plan does not ameliorate the issues the child is referred to the Child Study Team. EIP services children ages 0 to 3 years. A referral to the Child Study Team is initiated when the child is aging out of EIP. All Prekindergarten referrals require a comprehensive evaluation by the Child Study Team.

If you have a concern about your preschool or school age child please contact the Offices of Special Services at 201-337-0336.
