What are the New Jersey Student Learning Assessments?

The New Jersey Student Learning Assessments (NJSLA) are computer-based assessments used to measure the knowledge, concepts, and skills identified for each grade level (3-12) as per the New Jersey Student Learning Standards for English language Arts/Literacy, Mathematics, and Science.

Please note: To ensure test security, only school-authorized devices will be permitted in any testing room before, during, and after testing.  As such, we request the cooperation of all students, parents/ guardians to ensure that school and standardized testing policies are carefully followed with respect to restricted devices, i.e., cell phones, tablets, smart watches, etc.

When will Franklin Lakes Public Schools be administering the NJSLA for ELA, Math, & Science?

ELA:

Grades 3-8: Spring 2025

Math:

Grades 3-5: Spring 2025

Grades 6-8: Spring 2025

Science:

Grades 5 & 8: Spring 2025

Is the NJSLA required for High School Graduation?

The NJDOE and State Board of Education are continuing to finalize graduation requirements for students graduating in the years 2026 and beyond.  At present, the NJSLA Algebra and Geometry content tests are listed among the “pathways” to meet High School Graduation Requirements for the Classes of 2023-2025. As such, FAMS students taking high school level courses (Algebra I or Geometry) should take the NJSLA assessments in order to keep options open for students in the event these assessments are utilized to satisfy High School graduation assessment requirements.
