Last spring, after discussions with other school boards, superintendents, the board attorney and our representative from the New Jersey School Boards Association, the Franklin Lakes Board of Education made a deliberate decision to search for and hire an interim superintendent. Dr. Gayle Strauss hit the ground running and, as we expected, has brought valuable perspective and experience to the district.
The Board strongly believes that our district is best served by the continuity of a second year of Dr. Strauss’s leadership and is pleased to report that Dr. Strauss has agreed to stay with us through the 2019-2020 school year. We recognize and appreciate Dr. Strauss’s contributions to the district in the relatively short time she has been with us, and we look forward to our continued partnership.
The Board expects to begin the search for a permanent superintendent in early 2019.
